January 1, 2017 Rensselaer County Run Monday 1/2/17 and Tuesday 1/3/17 Flagg, David M., Sr. North Greenbush- David M. Flagg, Sr., 78, of North Greenbush, passed away on Thursday December 29, 2016, after a long illness. Born in Albany, NY, he was a life-long resident of Rensselaer County, with most of those years residing in East Greenbush and Averill Park. He was the beloved son of Richard C. and Evelyn Flagg (deceased), and brother of Joan LeBrecht (Bill) and Richard C. Flagg, Jr. (deceased). David proudly served in the US Navy from 1958-1962 on the USS Newport News based in Virginia, where his tour took him to Europe, the Mediterranean, South America and then on to the Caribbean. After his time in the service, David became employed as a dental supply salesman, and eventually established and operated his own successful business, Flagg Dental Supply Company in Averill Park. David loved fishing and golfing, and particularly loved hunting with his sons. David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Jo; his sons David M. Flagg Jr., Montgomery R. Flagg, Daryle M. Flagg (Jennifer), and Jason R. Flagg (Laura). He is also survived by his eight grandchildren; Jonathan, Christopher, Jeffrey, Brittany, Lauren, Ryan, Samantha and Collin Flagg; and several great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave, Castleton-on-Hudson, NY from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services and interment will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, at East Greenbush Cemetery, behind the Greenbush Reformed Church on Hayes Road in East Greenbush, NY.
