Obituary of Beverly A. Relyea

Castleton- Beverly A. (Baccei) Relyea, 92, passed away on February 8, 2023, at Ellis Hospital.  Born November 14, 1930, in Proctor, VT. to the late Joseph and Marion Baccei.  Beverly was a registered nurse having graduated from the Albany Medical Center School of Nursing, Class of 1951. Beverly married her loving husband Donald in Proctor, VT on May 3, 1952. She was employed by Albany Medical Center until 1953 before starting employment as an RN at Resurrection Rest Home in Castleton for the next 21 years. In her spare time, she was a voracious reader and avid golfer, playing with her dear friend, Fran Schouten. She enjoyed bowling and her team won a state championship. For many years, Beverly was very active in her church, St. Paul’s United Methodist. She was known for her beautiful gardens on Scott Avenue.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Donald A. Relyea and her daughter Jo Ann Bennison. 

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Relyea and Mary (Pierce) Mahar of Guilderland; son-in-law Chuck Bennison of Castleton; grandchildren Shelley (Zachary) Palmer, Kevin (Kara Mears) Bennison, Sarah Mahar and Nicholas Mahar.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren Vivienne Palmer and Andrew Palmer who adored their “Gigi”. 

A celebration of life will be held on June 19, 2023, 11:00am at the Emmanuel Reformed Church 1150 Maple Hill Road Castleton, NY 12033.
