He attended Texas A&M before marrying the love of his life and traveling the country. On their honeymoon they traveled 16,000 miles cross-country for 15 weeks; including a visit to Alaska. In 1974 they settled in Castleton where he enjoyed renovating their 1889 Victorian home with Marcy which they cherished together and where they raised their sons. He was a lifelong collector of antiques and historical items of interest. Norman had numerous hobbies such as leather and jewelry making, stained glass, carpentry, and welding. He had a passion for working with his hands as he was known for his interest in making or repairing most anything with his extensive collection of tools and hardware.

A proud father and grandfather who enjoyed time with his family around the pool, in the garden, or completing a model doll house of their home in Marcy’s honor after her passing. Norm delighted in seeing his granddaughters participate in activities and took pleasure in working with his sons on various projects. He was fond of driving his 1962 Willys Jeep Station Wagon during the Memorial Day Parade. Norman was an employee of Soil and Material Testing, Aetna, and Perma Insurance companies.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed making friends and memories by participating in the community as a Scout Leader, Castleton on Hudson Neighborhood Association member, Kiwanis member, Early Ford V8 Car Club Treasurer, Village Zoning Board member, and serving as the Castleton Cemetery Association President. Additionally, he enjoyed the comfort and friendship of his Widower Support Group and joining them on trips.

He appreciated summer vacations to Outer Banks NC, Ocean City MD, Cape Cod, RVing with his brother Willy and his wife Jerri, and visiting the coast with friends. Norman also loved to travel globally, visiting Egypt, France, Switzerland, China, Italy, Rome, Greece, Portugal, England, Ireland, and Spain and cruising to the Caribbean and through the Panama Canal.
