In 1992, I got a job with the NYS Higher Education Services Corporation. Luckily for me, I was seated all the way in the back of the office, next to Ruth. She taught me a lot about student loans, and even more about life! She had some great stories to tell!!! I was so happy when she retired and was finally was able to live full time on her beloved Cape. After I retired, my husband and I moved to Eastham, the town next to Wellfleet. We were neighbors and fellow "washashores" for 6 years. We'd get together now and again, and it was always entertaining. My favorite story was the one about her brand new Honda getting caught in a rising tide!!! She introduced me to Arnold's and forbade me from going to PB Boulangerie. After we returned to NY, we would reconnect with Ruth on our annual vacation to the Cape. COVID prevented that from happening last year, but I did get a cheery Christmas card from her. I hope she passed quickly and peacefully. When I go to Eastham this September, I'm going to get a basket of onion rings at Arnold's and think about her and what a wonderful, funny character she was! I am grateful to have known her. My deepest sympathy to you all.

My condolences to the Vanderburghs on the loss of your mom. Your mom raised three wonderful daughters. It has been a long time since the Maple Hill days, but I have fond memories of you three.

Ruth and I were friends throughout our childhood at school for all the years from Kg to graduation. We lived about two miles from each other and she was one of the friends i was allowed to ride my bike to see during the younger years. We have kept in touch throughout the years thanks to class reunions of the 1953 class when we graduated together! Our condolences to her family from my husband and myself.
You will be missed by our remaining classmates. Rest in peace dear friend.

My dear friend, We had known each other for 80years.. All thru East Greenbush thru graduation in 1953, Then we met up again at Russell Sage College in Troy ,NY and graduated there in 1957. While in high school we were both in the band and had to practise marching around the whole school.( Even in the hot weather). (You were at great cheer leader too.). As I write this letter to you and our friends, many memories flash back, slumber parties where our male classmates were not allowed in but made their presents known. Somewhere along this whole life process, we were able to keep track of where each was living. For a while we were tied together by a wonderful Bassett Hound, Lady... From her, we got Reby. Our parents loved Cape Cod and both families enjoyed going to the Cape... My folks had a place not far from where you bought your lovely brick home. Dear friend , now you will be able to be by Ronnie after all these many years. God bless you and I will see you again. The Arbor Organization will plant and tree in your honor and Ronnie's.
